What is Elegant Eating?

I recently created a free resource called the Elegant Eating Handbook.

Whether you want to lose weight permanently or cultivate a more peaceful and pleasurable relationship with food, this handbook is for you.

If you’re done with quick-fix diets and desire a more sustainable and simplified approach to eating that also yields long-term results, you are in the right place, my friend.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the nitty-gritty details of weight loss and diet advice, this handbook addresses some of the broader themes that trip women up that also go beyond questions like “What’s the best diet?” or “What exactly should I be eating?”

You may be wondering why I chose to call it the Elegant Eating Handbook, and at first glance, it could be misleading.

So that’s what I’d like to share with you in this post.

The following is extracted directly from the introduction chapter of the handbook.

What is Elegant Eating?

This handbook has little to do with table etiquette or throwing a fabulous dinner party.

The word elegant (as I define it here) means a simple and effective solution to a problem.

It comes from the Latin root eligere, which means “to choose well” or “to select with care.”

So, with regard to this handbook, it’s two-fold.

First, it’s about cutting through complicated diet information with simple and effective solutions for sustainable and lasting weight loss.

And second, it’s also about being selective and choosing well for ourselves when it comes to caring for the health of our body and mind.

In a nutshell, Elegant Eating is about:

  • Timeless truths and wisdom, over diet fads and trends
  • Understated simplicity
  • Loving self-discipline and flexibility over rigid food rules and diet dogma
  • Balancing quality with quantity
  • Reclaiming self-sovereignty and shedding anything that stands in the way of it (i.e. excuses, limiting and outdated beliefs)
  • Eating to nourish and fuel your body rather than to numb or escape uncomfortable emotions
  • Being selective not only with how you choose to feed your body but also with how you feed your mind
  • Choosing what you want most long-term (your goals) over what you want most in the moment (instant gratification) and recommitting to this each day

These are the themes woven throughout the following pages as I share my strategies for lasting weight loss and a peaceful relationship with food.
