How a weekly coffee date helped her lose 50 pounds—And Keep Going

Today, I’m excited to share a glimpse into the inspiring journey of one of my clients.

Stephanie and I first began working together in August of last year. Over those months, she made considerable progress, losing nearly 30 pounds.

In March of this year, driven by her determination to further pursue her weight loss and health goals, she reconnected with me to resume our sessions.

Just last week, Stephanie celebrated a significant milestone—a remarkable 50-pound weight loss!

One strategy, in particular, became a game-changer:

A weekly solo coffee date.

The Weekly Ritual That Changed Everything

Every Thursday morning before work, Stephanie heads to a beautiful local café. She enjoys a healthy breakfast and takes time to reflect with her food journal and notebook in hand.

During these solo sessions, she:

  • Reviews her food journal from the past week
  • Reflects on what’s working—and what isn’t
  • Sets goals and intentions for the week ahead
  • Celebrates non-scale wins
  • Plans for obstacles before they throw her off track

Stephanie began this routine after our initial round of sessions concluded last November, replacing our weekly touchpoints with her own to keep herself accountable. These dates became so instrumental to her ongoing success that she continued them after resuming our sessions again in March, and she recently shared that she has no intention of stopping them.

Why This Simple Habit Works

Stephanie’s Thursday morning ritual works because it builds in space for:

  • Accountability
  • Intentional reflection to stay aligned with her goals
  • Emotional awareness and reduced reactivity
  • Consistency even during stressful or busy seasons
  • Self-trust by showing up for herself week after week

What’s truly inspiring about Stephanie’s story is not just the weight loss but the positive mindset shift she’s experienced.

More Than Weight Loss: A Mindset Transformation

Stephanie’s success isn’t only about the number on the scale.

Through this weekly ritual and her ongoing commitment, she’s:

  • Become more attuned to her body’s signals
  • Learned to eat in a way that supports her energy and mood
  • Developed habits that feel supportive, not restrictive
  • Let go of the all-or-nothing mindset
  • Reconnected with herself in a deeper way

Her Thursday café mornings have become a cornerstone of her self-care—a quiet act of devotion that keeps her grounded, clear, and in motion.

Could This Work for You?

Imagine what might shift if you gave yourself 30 minutes a week to check in—honestly and compassionately—with your goals, your body, and your needs.

Maybe it’s:

✨ A solo coffee date.
✨ A Sunday night planning session.
✨ An early morning walk.

Any of these could be the small, steady habit that keeps you anchored, especially when life gets full.
