Steal These Body-Positive Affirmations (No Mirror Pep Talks Required)

Our thoughts are powerful.

They shape how we see ourselves, how we interpret the world, and how we show up in our lives.

When our thoughts are filled with criticism, comparison, or unrealistic expectations, even the most well-intentioned health goals can start to feel like a losing battle.

So, how have you been thinking about yourself lately?

Are your thoughts encouraging?
Supportive?
Uplifting?

If not, let’s change that right now.

But first, a caveat:

Have you ever tried repeating positive affirmations that didn’t quite land?

Maybe it felt like you were lying to yourself.
Maybe you even felt a bit silly.

Body-Positive Affirmations - One Version ;)

Why Some Affirmations Fall Flat

I’m not a fan of repeating affirmations that feel completely disconnected from your current reality or beliefs. That approach can feel hollow—or worse, like toxic positivity.

The key is to choose affirmations you can actually connect to—right here, right now.

A meaningful affirmation should spark something inside you: a sense of relief, hope, empowerment, or warmth. It should feel like something you could believe… or at least want to believe.

Because when your thoughts shift, your feelings shift. And when your feelings shift, your actions follow.

For Example…

When I tell myself, “I am strong and capable”—and I genuinely believe it—I’m far more likely to persevere through a hard workout or a tough day instead of giving up.

When I remind myself to feel gratitude for everything my body has done for me, it naturally deepens my desire to care for it, through how I eat, move, and speak to myself.

How to Use These Affirmations

Start by choosing one or two from the list below that resonate deeply.
Or reword them so they feel more true to you.

This isn’t about forcing positivity—it’s about choosing thoughts that gently guide you in the direction you want to go.

Ways to practice:

  • Say them silently or out loud
  • Write them in your journal
  • Post them on sticky notes
  • Set them as phone reminders
  • Repeat them during transition moments in your day

Let them become mental anchors—reminders of who you are and how you want to feel.
