Let’s talk about the mindset that changes everything for my clients, especially during vacations, weekends, busy work seasons, and family events:
The “Business as Usual” mindset.
Here’s what it means:
Even when life looks different, there are always opportunities to keep some things the same.
- Your morning walk
- Your usual breakfast
- Your hydration habits
- Your bedtime routine
These things might seem small, but they matter.
And more importantly, they’re doable—even when life is full.
The Problem With “Starting Fresh”
Most people think they need to “pause” their habits when life gets busy.
They fall into all-or-nothing thinking:
“I’m travelling this week—I’ll start fresh when I’m back.”
“I have three dinners out—what’s the point of even trying?”
“It’s a crazy week. I’ll get back on track when things settle.”
Here’s the problem:
Life rarely settles.
And if you’re always waiting for the “perfect” time, you’ll stay stuck in a loop of falling off track, then scrambling to start over.
The “Business as Usual” Shift
That’s why this mindset works so well.
It trains your brain to ask:
What can I still do?
Instead of giving up when things aren’t perfect, you shift into problem-solving mode:
✔️ Maybe I can’t track my meals, but I can keep my protein high
✔️ Maybe I can’t make it to the gym, but I can walk 20 minutes after dinner
✔️ Maybe I’ll be dining out more, but I can eat my “normal” breakfast
This isn’t about doing everything right—it’s about doing something consistently.
It’s about building momentum—even in imperfect circumstances.
The result?
- You stop “starting over” every week.
- You don’t panic when vacation ends.
- You feel proud, not guilty, after social events.
- And your goals don’t get derailed just because life gets busy.
Because life will get busy.
The difference is—you’re ready for it.
Heading Into Summer? Try This.
As we move into a season filled with travel, long weekends, and fun on the horizon, ask yourself:
What would “Business as Usual” look like for me this week?
Even a few small anchors can go a long way.
