I love celebrating both the big and small stuff.
Whether it’s a major milestone or a tiny step forward, I believe wholeheartedly that being in the energy of celebration propels us closer to our goals.
That’s why I encourage my clients to reflect on and celebrate their wins at the end of each week. What better way to finish strong than by acknowledging what’s working?
Celebrating small wins isn’t just a feel-good habit—it’s a smart one.
Too often, we obsess over the big, end-of-the-road outcome (like “losing 20 pounds” or “getting back into old jeans”) while ignoring all the micro-milestones we hit on the way there.
But here’s the thing: The small wins are what get us to the big win.
Shift Your Focus from Results to Actions
When setting weekly or daily goals, I always recommend focusing on actions rather than outcomes.
Why? Because:
- You can control your actions
- You can’t always control the result
- But consistent action is what creates the result
Let’s say your desired result is losing 5 pounds. That’s not something you can control directly.
But you can control:
- Planning and preparing your meals
- Showing up to your workouts
- Logging your food or reflecting on hunger cues
- Getting to bed earlier
- Drinking more water
These are actionable wins—and they’re exactly what I want my clients to notice and celebrate.
The remarkable part?
When you stay focused on the right actions, the results tend to follow anyway.
Examples of Real Client Wins
Here are just a few small wins my clients have celebrated recently:
- Getting through the week without overeating
- Not snacking mindlessly after dinner
- Overeating—but stopping short of a binge and letting it go without guilt
- Sticking to an eating plan they set for themselves
- Getting to bed before 10:30 PM each night
- Cooking meals at home instead of defaulting to takeout
- Eating without distraction at the dinner table
- Keeping a food journal and noticing how certain foods made them feel
These are personal wins.
They might seem small on the surface, but they reflect important mindset shifts, healthier habits, and growing self-trust.
And most importantly?
They build momentum.
Progress Happens in Small Steps
Remember: Big goals are just small goals stacked consistently over time.
So don’t forget to:
- Slow down
- Reflect
- Celebrate how far you’ve come
This is what helps you stay motivated and aligned with your bigger vision—without burning out or slipping into all-or-nothing thinking.
